Blog Assignment Week 4
One of the biggest things I noticed when reading first drafts of your Unit Projects this week was that several people ignored the part of the prompt that asked for an analysis of your blog's target audience, so your first blog assignment this week will attempt to get you thinking about that more. Sometime over the next week, I would like you to write a paragraph in the voice of an average member of your blog's target audience. In your paragraph introduce your character with some general facts like age, sex, education, and other information that you feel is relevant to the assignment. In addition to the factual data, talk about why you like to read the blog and things you may not like about the blog. And remember to stay in character!
For your second post this week, I would like each of you to write a short paragraph about the place where you do most of your writing. Whether it's at your desk in your dorm, in the library or at one of the outdoor tables at the daily grind, describe what's around you, what's in your line of sight and what you can hear when you're attempting to work. In addition to describing your typical writing environment, reflect briefly on the pros and cons of where you've chosen to write.
These assignments should be completed and posted to your blog
no later than Tuesday, September 21.
General Reminders
Just a reminder for everyone, we will not be meeting tomorrow so that I can hold individual student conferences. Please note that if you are late for your conference appointment, you will be counted late for Tuesday's class and if you miss you conference appointment you will be counted absent. Also, if I haven't gotten a draft of your Unit Project by now you will be penalized for that as well.
It's now about 3PM on Tuesday and I just checked everyone's blogs and a relatively small percentage of you have done the blog assignment this week. Please note that even though we are not meeting your blog assignment is still due by class time tomorrow. Those of you who are not keeping up your blogs should realize that this WILL be reflected in your unit 1 grade.
Finally, a checklist of what you'll need to bring to Thursday's class:
- Your Student Guide to English 10, 11, and 12
- Newly-revised draft of your Unit Project
- Draft Workshop form for September 16
If you have any questions about this feel free to shoot me an email. And I WILL be holding IM office hours tonight, so if you have any other questions please feel free to sign on and chat.
