Blog Assignment Week 8
Since this
is your fall break, you'll only have this one blog assignment to complete
before class time on October 19.
We often speak of communication as involving three essential components: a writer/speaker, a reader/listener and the written or spoken text that the writer/speaker is communicating. How we conceive of each of these variables constitutes our rhetorical situation. As I stated in class, while the audience variable will be more or less the same for all of your speeches, the other two variables will be vastly different and, as a result, your rhetorical situation will be almost entirely unique to yourself.
Imagine your rhetorical unique situation and write a post in which you assess how ethos, pathos and logos will play into your particular speech. You must think about your persona in the classroom, the subject of your speech and your audience and how all of these aspects of your rhetorical situation interact. You can talk about ethos, pathos and logos abstractly or you can talk about the concepts concretely as they are used in your speech.
