•Picked out of approximately 40 applicants to write a weekly opinionated 700-word column.
•Worked one-on-one with editorial page editor, polishing writing skills.
•Became experienced at working under deadline and pressure.
•Responded to dozens of reader feedback emails.
•Gained knowledge of basic newsroom procedure through editing process.

Student Researcher, Course work for Community Journalism, Fall 2002
•Followed and researched The Triangle Tribune during the entire fall semester for a case study.
•research included interviewing workers, interviewing readers, repeatedly visiting the newsroom and analyzing story content, design and layout, and approaches to reaching target audiences.
•produced 12-page case study for the publication’s use, detailing the overall analysis and findings for the paper and giving any suggestions for improvement based on other successful publications.
