South Carolina, oh where to begin,
Just the name itself makes me grin.
Smiling faces, beautiful places,
Great big areas of wide open spaces.
Trailer park 1, Trailer park 2,
More trailer parks than horse parts in glue.
They got beaches, they got sand,
They got the Pavilion and the Grand Stand.
Carowinds and the Pavilion,
The rides at both are worth 10 billion.
I-95 is a long boring drive,
Lots of crazy people, will we make it alive?
South Carolina is really a bore,
There's nothing to do except go to the shore.
South of the Border, you bet we are,
That's a great place to buy a cigar.
Where are we at? South Carolina, that's
right!
I hope we get out of this state before midnight!
At trip mile 240, it looks like rain,
There's a bunch motorists stranded in the
right lane.
I-26 two miles ahead,
There's a Texas car we all wish was dead.
Speeds up, slows down and whips in and out,
If it doesn't go on Suzanne's gonna shout!
It's starting to rain, the Rain-X works great.
Here comes three trucks with houses as freight.
Look straight ahead there are two sea-doos,
Whatever happened to Nathan, Brendan, and
Woo?
We bought some Michigan Cherries at the gas
stop,
We also bought water, not soda pop.
Josh is looking for a Jersey license plate,
Suzanne is thinking, "Oh, great."
A white Arizona car we just passed,
I don't think 78 is driving too fast.
At trip mile 327,
We stopped at a place that was way less
than heaven.
A Wendy's, a Huddle House, a gas station,
a store,
We left after peeing, the service was poor.
Suzanne about got her wish of having her
car weighed,
She yelled at Josh 'cause off the course
he strayed.
We are now in Georgia, Georgia on My Mind,
We left North Carolina, and South Carolina
behind.
Gas is cheap, prices are low,
The speed limit is 55, but 65 we go.
A bundle of joy our McDonald's lady was,
The intersection needs a light, why yes,
yes it does.
We just passed the Macon sign, Josh's friend
Tyrone lives there,
He made Josh's drive from Florida 5 hours
longer and didn't even care.
Into the swamps and out of the pine,
It's now stopped raining the weather's turned
fine.
The swamps sure stink, they smell like a
fart,
Look a palm tree, it sure touches the heart.
There's lots of cool bridges and water everywhere,
The Beatles are playing so sing along if
you dare.
70 to 60 to 55,
What's up with this, it just don't jive.
Reduce speed ahead, nope 55,
Move all these barrels, we just want to
drive.
F-L-A, U-S-A we're finally here,
Hooray, hooray, listen to our cheer!
Oh Buddy Buddy Buddy from Texas,
I guess I have slowed down,
Oh Buddy Buddy Buddy from Texas,
I'm glad you went around.
Two trucks of sod going down the road,
We've seen houses, tractors, and many a
strange load.
At trip mile 550 we're nearing Daytona Beach,
Getting excited that Orlando's within our
reach.
Maybe an hour, maybe two,
We're jamming to Green Day, won't you head
bang too?
This is the last CD of Suzanne's in the case,
Josh sure wishes she would pump up the bass.
Exit 86B, I-4 I see,
We're off to Orlando, and the big Disney!!
We're heading toward the sun, westward ho,
Josh is so excited -- tomorrow Disney World
we go!
47 miles till we reach Orlando,
Josh is still looking for a tag from Ontario!
The tour of Orlando has officially begun,
Josh is the leader, bright as the sun.
The big mall, Universal, Sea World, then
Disney,
Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and Minnie.
We're riding in the lane designated carpool,
Minimum two people...we qualify...how cool!
Let us recap our vacation for you,
The Orlando part is actually through.
We'll start from the beginning, that would
be day one,
We'll show you excitement, we'll show you
the fun.
Our very first night Downtown Disney we went,
We ate at the Rainforest, lots of money
we spent.
We checked out the shops, there was Disney
stuff galore,
We were so tired, even walking was a chore.
Late to bed, Early to rise,
We had trouble just opening our eyes.
Islands of Adventure watch out here we come,
We ate at Margaritaville and the food was
way Yum!
We did some shopping, then decided to play,
We got to the gate, and Suzanne said "No
Way."
Sick to her stomach, and not feeling well,
We toured Disney's resorts, via the monorail.
Boardwalk came first, it rained like heck,
We ate at the Wilderness, just look at the
check!
Polynesian was lush, as lush as can be,
Floridian offered a piano player tickling
the ivory.
Contemporary was the coolest, we went on
the roof,
We saw a goat with an extra hoof.
Over there's Goofy, and Donald too,
Watch out kids Suzanne'll step on you!
Although its early, off to bed we shall go,
Magic Kingdom's tomorrow let's get on with
the show.
Space Mountain in 10 minutes, Alien Encounter
in a few,
We might actually ride everything before
the day is through.
We rode every ride, the cool ones that is,
Pooh was just awesome, but Mr. Toad we will
miss.
Buzz Lightyear's ride was really quite fun,
We drove our own car, we shot our own gun.
Splash Mountain had the longest wait, Dumbo
was next,
Nothing else over 30 minutes, we were perplexed.
The Tiki room had a few new bird calls,
Dinner at Tony's, we love those meatballs.
The biggest surprise would have to be,
The parade seats given by Jason and Jimmy.
Our electrical parade seats were on the front
line,
Every character shook hands and spent a
little extra time.
"Here comes the bumpy part" Pete said as
he passed,
Our host Patricia was great, the parade
was a blast.
We did a big favor for Ron and Marie,
They are our friends with trivia, all Disney.
Monday began over in EPCOT,
There was construction, and we do mean a
lot.
Many rides were closed, but not Test Track,
We rode that first and sat in the back.
Suzanne bought a passport and stamp hunting
we went,
A stamp from each country and a foreign
comment.
Eleven countries in all, in each we spent
time,
In Mexico we ate, the dining was fine.
We went through the Land, and traveled through
mud,
Went Under the Sea, and swam in some blood.
Illuminations was dumb, it wasn't quite night,
Kids spitting in our hair and we couldn't
see the light.
We left at this point, we couldn't take anymore,
The park started closing, hey, wait there's
a store.
It's not just MGM but that's where we went,
It's the Disney MGM Studios Josh continued
to vent.
We stepped through the gate Josh sure felt
at home,
We saw Gerda and Rob then started to roam.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was great, we loved
it to death,
From 0 to 60 in just one breath.
Aerosmith sings and it's really quite loud,
A super stretch limo, we were really quite
wowed.
Tower of Terror now drops like 8 times,
Look at our picture, we all look like mimes.
On the Great Movie Ride Suzanne was floored,
Look at all those Munchkins, and evil witch
on a cord.
Backlot tour and Backstage Pass,
We learned about movies while looking through
glass.
The Muppets show was wonderful as it always
is,
We're really starting to learn all about
show biz.
Indiana Jones really saved the day,
In Star Tours we visited a galaxy far away.
We went to the Brown Derby for a Cobb Salad,
We sat next to the piano, he played theme
songs and ballads.
Fantasmic at night it was a great show,
We went to the second, the first was a "no
go."
Animal Kingdom the next day the weather "way
hot,"
For Kilimanjaro Safaris a Fast Pass we got.
We saw many animals in the mid morning sun,
Got chased by poachers it was really quite
fun.
We walked through some trails, where the
heck are we at?
Then off to Asia to see a bird show and
big bats.
Countdown to Extinction we went back in time,
We brought home a dino, is that some sort
of crime?
We went back to Asia to cool off and get
wet,
Kali River Rapids was definitely our best
bet.
Next came the tree, it's Tough to be a Bug,
Nestled in the roots we were really quite
snug.
In the Tree of Life we saw several bugs and
moths,
We were stung by a bee and Suzanne wanted
her Off.
We took the train to the Station to learn
about Conservation,
We said, "Hey, this ain't school, we're
here on vacation."
The park closed early that day,
At 7:00 we'll say,
We just couldn't stay,
So we headed the studios way.
We rode the coaster again and Tower of Terror
too,
Did some good shopping and decided we were
through.
We woke up the next morning and packed all
our bags,
We went to Islands of Adventure looking
like two old hags.
We were really worn out but the coasters
they called,
We couldn't leave the park 'til we had done
them all.
Cat in the Hat, Car-Suess-el, and Blue Fish
too,
Our adventure in Suess Landing was already
through.
Poseidon's Fury was really dumb,
A cave full of water, oh jolly how fun.
Dueling coasters how great, oh wait we were
jipped,
The red train stayed behind it's not going
to flip.
We rode it again so that we could duel,
We passed within inches it was really cool.
We wanted to get wet, so we went to Jurassic
Park,
Thank goodness it was early and not after
dark.
We got soaking wet on the cartoon river ride,
We ate at Wimpy's, hamburgers with fries
on the side.
Oh wait, is that rain we see?
If we are going to ride everything, we better
get busy.
The Incredible Hulk is a green machine,
We loved the blast off and all the flipping.
Next came the tower, the Tower of Doom,
We saw fog then shot off with a boom.
Spiderman was really cool it was in 3D,
He stayed on our car as we drove through
the city.
We left at 5 to meet Drew for dinner,
He stood us up, oh what a sinner.
We left after dinner and headed down South,
We got on some toll road and paid out the
mouth.
That night at Ft. Lauderdale we stood on
the beach,
We saw the Shuttle blast off it wasn't far
out of reach.
Went back to the room we didn't make a peep,
We needed to make-up for a lot of lost sleep.
That morning we woke up sometime around 11,
We toured around the city and ate dinner
about 7.
The next day we spent our whole day in the
ocean,
By night we were wishing we'd used more
suntan lotion.
We are now driving home Trip mile 1-3-9-7,
Soon we will arrive back in the Carolina
Blue Heaven.
This road is annoying I wish we'd just go,
5 miles under the speed limit is definitely
too slow.
We just ate lunch, wasn't it great?
We had a Big Mac, fries, a fish, and a shake.
We've gone past Daytona, we've gone past
the Cape,
We're about into Georgia with the great
Florida escape.
Jacksonville is an evil town,
With twists and turns that make us frown.
Left lane, right lane, which do we choose?
All this construction is giving me the blues.
We're in Georgia now Suzanne's behind the
wheel,
Josh is asleep again, what is the deal?
We're almost through Georgia it's now 4:00,
Why did we stay up and watch "Summerstock"?
Quick, there's a bridge, hold your breath,
Get all the way across without causing death.
We're now in South Carolina in Jasper County,
You know we were in Florida look at all
our bounty.
At trip mile 1625 we past the gas station
we earlier skipped,
There's only 327 more miles until the end
of our trip.
We're booking it now, just filled up with
gas,
4 or 5 more hours, how will we last?
We've now eaten dinner our tummy's are full,
Cracker Barrel was good as is the general
rule.
It's getting dark at trip mile 1850,
We're in North Carolina, isn't that nifty?
What are these signs, they're all about wigs,
Hidden amongst the pines and the twigs?
We're back here in Dunn home of Nathan and
Heather,
He's a sheriff's deputy, and she sells boots
of leather.
We've crossed many rivers look here's the
Cape Fear,
We know by this landmark home is quite near.
As we reach the end of our trip our poem
done,
We look back on it all, it's been really
quite fun.
