Ohio Vacation Poem 2001
Hurray, hurray, we're on our way,
Our summer vacation starts today!
We started out late, Josh kept hitting
"snooze"
We stopped by the bank, it's closed, we lose.
We're going now, through mountains and hills,
Still in TN, so not many thrills.
Welcome to Kentucky, where education pays
It's work zone season, we picked some great days.
"Leave racin' to horses," the
construction sign said.
We laughed when we saw this, till we hurt in the
head.
We need to play the lottery, lady luck's on our
side,
A fortune cookie paper with numbers, our guide.
We're looking for lunch, will it be fried chicken?
We want something good and finger lickin'!
We ate at the place where it all began,
Colonel Sanders, what a man.
Suzanne saw a Big Boy and wanted a hug
We bought some milkshakes they were too cold to
chug.
Oh Rodger from Survivor, where are you?
Crittenden's your home, we're driving through.
We're now in Ohio, we don't have a map,
We found the hotel, and then took a nap.
Our first meal in Ohio, what can we say?
A Tabby's cobb salad, not a 5 way.
Stitt road, oh what a mess,
We see the coasters, we are in distress.
We finally found it on Kings Island Drive,
We aren't stopping, just passing by.
Back to the hotel, time to go to bed,
We went to sleep with visions of coasters in our
head.
The next day we awoke and ran out to door,
A dirty dish rag at Waffle House made us laugh
some more.
Kings Island, we're here, we paid at the gate
It's raining real hard, our day will be great!
Face-Off was first, King Cobra was next,
We rode Son of Beast, Owww our necks.
We shook and rattled so very, very hard
We're sure both our brains are damaged and scarred.
Top Gun right away, that was a mistake,
Suzanne ran to the bathroom, now the water's
opaque.
We had us some lunch, then went to kids land,
That had some cool rides, more than we planned.
Phantom Theater was freaky, yet a neat ride,
On Scooby's Ghost Coaster, we had no where to
hide.
The Beast was the BEST, painful and fast,
It holds the world record, how long will it last?
The Wild Thornberry's was fun, with never a frown,
Next was the river ride, will the old lady drown?
The fireworks at night were neat,
Too bad we couldn't see them from our standing seat.
Carowinds has a long way to go,
To be a top notch park like Kings Island, Ohio.
It's day 3, and our trip headed west,
We're in Indiana, will it pass the test?
Corn, corn, corn, and Hunter it's not,
Corn, corn, corn, Indiana has a lot.
We're almost to Michigan, and still no magnet,
Oh wait, a truck stop, maybe they'll have it.
Magnet in hand, Suzanne's ready to go,
We're now in Michigan, but just staying low.
Michigan, Michigan, oh how rude,
Does anyone know where we can find food?
Quick! Back to Ohio, out hotel's awaitin'
Now we're off to bed and the Point we're
anticipatin'
We got up early, we're off to the park,
Gonna stay late and ride in the dark!
Our first ride in the park was the Antique cars,
Then Wild Cat and Millennium, we about reached the
stars.
Three hundred feet down, the speed's 93,
Going so fast we can't even see!
We loved the Swan Boats, who knew we'd get wet?
Suzanne's in a fountain, now she's upset.
We ate pizza next, it was really good
Then off to Meanstreak, a coaster made of wood.
Gemini the racing coaster, goodness sakes alive!
Beside the other train, you could give someone a
high-five!
Magnum XL200 it's rated number 1,
A hyper coaster on the beach is really kind of
fun.
Power Tower up 240 feet
We shot up like a rocket, oh how sweet!
We took some great shots while riding the Giant
Wheel,
The Corkscrew was painful, but still a great
thrill.
We went to Alaska, but it wasn't cold,
Disaster Transport was fun, but the theming was
old.
We ate at the Silver Dollar at a table with a
view,
Our waiter, Diego, was slow and didn't have a
clue.
We waited for Raptor, our longest line so far,
The front line was so long, we settled for another
car.
Iron Dragon feels like your riding in a glider,
Except this ride comes with a big scary spider.
We thought the spider had us, we shattered and
shrugged,
Little did we know it was just some small bugs.
The laser show was lame, but we watched it anyway,
The off to Millennium for a perfect end to our
day.
Day two at the Point was more of the same,
We LOVE this park, we're so glad we came!
Cedar Downs is a carousel where all the horses
race,
Up and down and back and forth, Suzanne's in first
place.
We rode Mantis, a coaster where you stand,
Then Power Tower down, it was grand.
We took it slow on this day at the park,
We were dragging our feet long before dark.
Are we crazy? Don't be a klutz,
We bought three glass bowls! Are we nuts?
Locker one here, locker two there
Back to Millennium, don't fly out of your chair!
We love this coaster, and doesn't it show?
We waited 3 hours for two rides in a row!
We got off the coaster and walked through the
dark,
Carrying 20 bags advertising the park.
A circle tour of Lake Erie started our next day,
A couple of lighthouses, what more can we say?
Lake Erie is big, as big as an ocean,
With little round stones smoothed by the motion.
We drove on to Cleveland, because Cleveland Rocks!
They're home of the Indians, not the Red Sox!
We drove to Aurora, home of Six Flags,
We searched for a hotel to put all our bags.
We drove to the left, we drove to the right,
There wasn't a single hotel in site.
We tried at the Hampton, but they were booked,
We stopped at the Red Roof, and a smoking room we
took.
We asked for new sheets cause our were dirty,
Little did we know, we'd have to wait till 9:30!
We're off to Six Flags, it's starting to rain,
We're afraid to ride because of the pain.
We just bought our tickets, it has started to
pour,
So we spent our morning running from store to
store.
We finally broke down and rode Superman first,
The rain hurt like hell, sorry we cursed.
Mind Eraser and Face-Off have the same track,
It wasn't inverted, so we thought it was slack.
Wait a little longer while we clear out the mud,
The X-Flight attendants weren't aware of the
flood.
The X-Flight restraints felt like a life vest,
But flying face down, we liked that the best.
We rode Serial Thriller, it knocked us around,
Suzanne thought she'd find her ears on the ground!
What a bright sight,
Batman Night Flight,
This floorless coaster gave us quite a fright,
With it's mighty high heights.
Is the Villain wood or steel?
We don't know it's bugs that we feel.
Its really hot, hotter than Hades,
Josh is in a boat, a boat full of ladies.
We got really wet, now off to Sea World,
We like watching the dolphins when they flipped
and twirled.
The sea lion show was stopped by a pesky sea
otter,
We enjoyed the show while eating Vic's popcorn and
water.
Look at the penguins, look at the sharks,
This isn't something you see in other parks.
Oh where is our Stumpy, the sting rays won't play,
Oh where is our Stumpy, we won't pet one today.
The Raging Wolf Bobs, they aren't what you think,
It's just a wooden coaster, what is the link?
We rode the Big Dipper, and the Double Loop,
We've finished this park, we gave you the scoop.
Back to Cleveland for the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame,
Our next day was different, definitely not the
same.
First we found the Hard Rock, Suzanne bought a
bear,
We see the Hall of Fame on the map, but how do we
get there?
Hey we're here, there's so much to see,
Instead of taking one hour, it took us three!
Back on the road and now running late,
We ate with the Amish, the food was great!
We found another hotel, this one's really clean,
Next morning the Carousel Capital; there's only
one carousel, what do they mean?
We're off to see the popcorn in the Popcorn
Museum,
Where are the free samples? We don't see
'em.
We've got to get out of here, we have to go,
It's time to be in Tennessee, not Ohio.
We're back in Kentucky, Josh continues to cough,
We need food and gas, we'll have to pull off.
Cracker Barrel fish was good and we're feeling
alive,
"We're on 75, we'll go 75," Suzanne said
as she started to drive.
With the trip mile at 1,753 now,
It's hard to believe we've been to Paris, Denmark,
Portland and Moscow!
Three miles to TN and in traffic we sit,
What a great way to prolong our trip.
One hour later, construction finally done,
Maybe we'll get to Knoxville before the rising of
the sun.
We're finally home, let the challenge begin,
Unload the car, get all the stuff in.
Separating it fast is a chore for our head,
Our poem is done, now off to bed.
