Here's a few bits about me and my family. I'm married to Catherine Reynolds Kirkpatrick. We met as graduate students at MIT in Boston. We married a few years after that. We're both postdocs in the Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Catherine works on aspects of developmental and cellular biology in the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster, in Mark Peifer's lab. She is primarily concerned with identifying and characterizing proteins that interact with the Armadillo protein, which is a component of a signal transduction cascade during development and also acts to mediate cell-cell interactions. She also is interested in protein-protein interactions and methods of regulation of protein regulation (such as protein degradation). Her work is funded by the National Cancer Institute of Canada.
Recently we were joined by our daughter, Alia Michelle. Needless to say, we're happy, but extremely sleepy!
Here's a set of photos of Alia.
