Locating the land area

The amount of space under the land area needs to be determined. It should be high enough to allow the turtles to move around freely. Take into account the final size of the turtle, if you have juveniles, or you may need to rework the tank at a later point.

Place something of the appropriate height in the tank, to support the bottom plastic piece of the land area. In the above image, I've set two bricks on edge to act as a support.

Place the plastic bottom piece on top of the bricks. If the piece does not sit evenly (if it is too wide, for example) you will need to shave the edges down until it fits.

Draw a line on the glass of the tank, using the plastic piece as a guide. This line will be used as a guide when applying the silicon sealant. Once the line is drawn, remove the plastic piece.
