Summary

I am currently 20 years old and a native of Greensboro, North Carolina. I am a journalism major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, from which I plan to graduate in May of 2003. I'm in the advertising sequence and am working hard to learn as much as possible while I am still at UNC Chapel Hill. After graduation, I hope to work in the advertising field, preferably somewhere in North Carolina. In my spare time, I like to work on the computer and exercise or play soccer whenever possible.

Education

Major and Track: I am currently enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am a journalism major in the advertising sequence. This year I will be a junior and I am expecting to graduate in May of 2003.

Distinctions: I graduated 10th out of a class of 230 from Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, NC with a 4.8 GPA. I was a member of the Key Club, Beta Club and National Honor Society. I worked in my high school's yearbook, the Echo, for three years as head of the advertising section. I was a Junior Marshall and was active in athletics. I played soccer for a Greensboro traveleing team called the Twisters. My team won three state championships and I traveled to the Regionals all three times. I also played varsity soccer for 4 years for my high school. During my freshman and senior years, Ragsdale won the North Carolina Athletic Associan High School State Championship. I also played basketball for Ragsdale for 4 years.

Professional Experience

Waitress at Longhorn Steakhouse: My most recent employer was RARE Hospitality International Inc. and Longhorn Steakhouse in Greensboro, NC. I began working there in May of 2000 and am currently still employed at the restaurant. I began working there as a hostess, making sure customers were seated promptly. I bussed tables quickly in order to make sure they were seated as soon as possible. Eventaully I began waiting tables in June of 2000. I was given a shopper score of 98 in the summer of 2000 and always was told I gave great service.

Warehouse Worker for Carson-Dellosa Publishing: During the summer months of May through August of 1995 and 1996 I was employed with Carson Dellosa Publishing Company in Greensboro, NC. I worked in a warehouse boxing children's tools for school as well as collating papers. I also organized crates and help keep the warehouse in general organized.

Hostess at Outback Steakhouse: Currently, I am in the process of being hired at Outback Steakhouse, Inc. in Durham, North Carolina. I am applying for a hostess position, but am hopeful that I will become a waitress there in a few months.

Personal Background

Family: My family lives in Jamestown, North Carolina. I have a little brother named Ryan who is a senior in high school. He is hoping to continue his soccer career in college. My father works for Oakwood Homes and my mother is a speech-pathologist in Davidson County, North Carolina.

Hobbies: In my spare time I enjoy watching TV and hanging out with my friends on my front porch. However, I enjoy playing soccer the most because I love the sport so much. I love watching any sport that comes on TV, especially basketball and soccer. I also enjoy my down time when my family vacations at Emerald Isle, NC. I love to salt water fish for Spanish and King mackeral, as well as freshwater fish for catfish or trout.
