Welcome to my home
page!
As you can see, my name
is Lizzie Breyer. I'm a senior in the School
of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I'm making this Web site for my
JOMC 50 class (hi Deb!),
and it's still a work in progress, so bear with me, please.
I'm also double majoring in public policy, and writing an honors thesis
in that department, so I spend most of my time in the library.
That is, when I'm not in the newsroom of The Daily Tar Heel...which
is definitely my second home. Or my first home, since I probably spend
more time there than my lovely apartment.
Other interesting things about me...well, I'm from Chicago and I studied
abroad in Florence, Italy, my sophomore year second semester. I love
listening to Counting Crows, reading Pat Conroy and Ayn Rand, wandering
through Central Park and knitting (no, I am not your grandmother, thanks
for asking.)
And if you want to learn
a little more about me, check out some of my favorite links:

Of course this one has to be included -- not only am
I a news junkie, I worked at the Times last summer (and am going back
there this summer too!) You have to register to read everything, but
it's free. I recommend their foreign and national news coverage, Maureen
Dowd's columns and their education news (look for my friend Jenny Medina's
byline!)

For journalism junkies like me, this Web site is essential.
It digests all the major news at papers, magazines, TV stations and
journalism schools across the country and gives you the inside scoop.

Another former employer of mine...although, as I am
fond of saying, I really know nothing about cars or dot-coms. Check
out my dream car, the Aston
Martin V12 Vanquish, while you're poking around this site.

As an aspiring copy editor, I find this site -- all
about the wonderful world of copy editing -- a lot more entertaining
than any normal person should.

This is an awesome resource to find good restaurants,
clubs and bars in your area. I've linked to the one for the Triangle,
but I also used this site constantly
when I was in New York City.

This is the school I studied abroad at when I was in
Florence. I would love to go back to Italy someday -- hopefully soon.
I love it there, and Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in
the world. Although my Italian is sort of lacking these days.
