Micmac held a two-year participatory planning process in which citizens identified key values, which were gathered through the public forum questionnaire listed below. The final key values are described and outlined in the chart below. Public participation in planning and civic activities will preserve a sense of community and encourage Micmac pride.
Micmac will maintain its small-town community character while accommodating new residents and development in a way protective of Micmac’s natural environment. Farmland and open space will be preserved in order to support our growing blueberry economy and protect our beloved rural landscapes. Housing and economic opportunities will be provided for the well being of all residents.
Micmac’s historic residences and downtown buildings will be preserved, and new development will be designed and constructed in harmony with the existing town aesthetic. Our town will be a walkable, human-scale place enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
