Traveling Companion: Jennifer Whitehead
Vehicle: Jenn's 1998 Nissan Altima

During my spring break trip to Seattle, Jenn and I went out onto the Olympic Peninsula, where the coast is part of Olympic National Park. These photos are from Rialto Beach. We camped near there and then went to Ruby Beach the following morning. Then I hooked up with Carson and his friend Chris and hiked up into the mountainous part of the park where we camped in the snow. The next morning we snowshoed up to a ridge for some nice views of the mountains and a brief view through the clouds of Vancouver Island. Then we briefly went to the rain forest part of the park. This trip really got me thinking about how my actions (I'm not camping or hiking) didn't mesh with my ideals (I am camping and hiking) and this streak is some way a way to encourage me to make up for years of not traveling and/or being in the outdoors. Olympic National Park is beautiful and definitely deserves a longer visit than I gave it, which is good in that it will make me return to Washington.

There are lots of little islands off the coast.

This is Trip 1, but it was not planned as the kick-off of this grand adventure. It was not until July that I realized the full magnitude of my streak.
