I am from Mount Airy, North Carolina, a small town
near the mountains where I have lived my entire life. I have one sibling,
a younger brother named Ed who is a junior at Woodberry
Forest School in Virginia. My dad is an attorney, and my mom is
a history teacher at Mount Airy High School. Here is a picture of my
entire family, with our cocker spaniel Oreo, taken last year at Christmastime.

| I love living near the mountains, especially during the fall when the leaves change. Here is a picture taken of my back yard during this time of year. |

I attended high school at Salem Academy in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, one of the oldest girls' preparatory schools in the country. As a boarding student for four years, I made many lasting friendships and received a wonderful education. However, after four years at a school with a population of around 200, I was ready for a change to something bigger!
I have loved my first two years at school here in Chapel Hill, and I am looking forward to my final two. Since coming to Carolina, I have become involved in several activities. I joined Chi Omega sorority my freshman year, and I have made many friends and had many good times as a result. I also have worked on the staff of our yearbook, the "Yackey Yack". Currently, I am working as a reporter for the Daily TarHeel, our campus newspaper. In September, I will be participating in UNC's study abroad program and travelling to Florence, Italy, where I will live and study for the semester. I am extremely excited about my trip, during which I hope to learn many things, travel many places, and have a wonderful time! As for now, I am enjoying my summer in Chapel Hill, taking classes and visiting with friends. Below is a recent picture of some of my friends and me (I'm the one on the left).

When I return from Italy, I'll be sure to post more pictures and update my web page. Feel free to visit again!
