This is an article I wrote that appeared in the July issue of
the Carolina
Communicator, a publication of the School of Journalism and
Mass Communication at UNC-Chapel Hill.
The article covers Chrisine Brennan, whose USA Today column makes
her the nation's most-read woman sports columnist. She is also a
network TV analyst and was an on-air contributor to ABC News during
the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano,
the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2002 Winter Games in
Salt Lake City.
In her Reed Sarratt Distinguished Lecture on April 22, 2002, Brennan
spoke on the inequality in media's coverage of sports. "There
are girls playing sports as never before in our country," Brennan
said, but "I don't see this groundswell of activity of girls
in sports reflected."

This is an article I wrote that appeared in the October issue of
the Carolina
Communicator, a publication of the School of Journalism and
Mass Communication at UNC-Chapel Hill.
The article covers three UNC-Chapel Hill 2000 graduates of the
School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Micke Sundheim, Fred
Roselli and PJ Avetta now work with the media and publics associated
with the Carolina Hurricanes, who won the 2002 Eastern Conference
Champonship Team and played to a fith game in the Stanley Cup Finals.
While future NHL Hall of Famer Ron Francis and star rookie Erik
Cole capture fans' attention on the ice, Sundheim, Roselli and Avetta
make sure the world knows about these Hurricanes the next day.

This is an article I wrote while interning with the Black
Mountain News, a weekly newspaper publication, during the summer
of 2002. This article appeared in the Augsust 1st issue.
The article covers Carl E. "Gene" Mills' book that he
wrote about growing up in Swannanoa, NC. While covering his story,
the article includes various memories of other residents who remember
what it was like to grow up in "Another Time, Another Place."
This is the complete unedited version of the article in word format.

This is a public relations plan I developed as a team project in
my Jomc 130 class. We worked with the Eno
River Association, a non-profit conservation organization that
works to conserve and protect the land and resources of the Eno
River basin.
The project included a power point presentation that was based
on the research our team conducted. In the presentation, we outlined
what we believed to be effective objectives, strategies, and tactics
for the Eno River Association to pursue in order to operate more
effectively and increase their association's membership.
