An important component of learning about art is learning to write about art, which is a separate, albeit related, process from learning to look at art. In order to prepare yourself for the mid-term and the final, which will be composed almost entirely of discussion questions, you will be required to write once a week. Each Monday I will post a writing assignment on the course web page under the "Writing" section. Each entry should be about one to one to two pages. (Typed, double spaced, one inch margins, 12 point font, etc...) The length of your answer may depend on the complexity of the question. You may use Janson as a resource, but a good entry will rely on lectures, the text, and your own opinions and observations. A 'Janson answer' is a "C" answer. I will collect your writing every other Friday throughout the semester, these due dates are noted on the course syllabus. |
