Leigh’s Web Page
Welcome
to my Web site!
My name is Leigh Carter and I am in school at
UNC-Chapel Hill. I grew up
in the port city of Wilmington, North Carolina and spent a large portion
of that time enjoying the forever irreplaceable Wrightsville beach.
I
graduated from New Hanover High School which is located in downtown
Wilmington, another favorite spot of mine. In
high school I played soccer, tennis, and a bit of basketball, but I’m
sorry to say that my status as an athlete has unfortunately declined
since UNC. It is on the
rise again, however, as intramural and club sports become more and more
a part of my day to day schedule.
I am one of four kids in the Carter family, holding
my own as the second oldest. I
have an older brother, a younger sister, and finally another brother—the
baby. Scott, I knew you’d
like that. I think we’re
all pretty sane for the most part, with the exception of a few lapse of
insanity from my parents. Well
. . . their pretty sane too, I suppose.
As far as my ambitions, goals, and great college
successes, my list is slim and short.
It would appear that I am a journalism major, but I think I’ve
finally decided that I am undecided.
That’s my greatest leap so far.
Possibly English, and who knows what tomorrow may unfold. My ambition is only to graduate with some sort of
direction, not necessarily a plan—only direction.
I’m participating in club
Ultimate
Frisbee--definitely still a rookie in that department-- intramural
soccer, and soon intramural basketball as well.
These things are making my world at UNC pretty satisfying so far,
so I will leave you to explore the rest of my web page on that note.
Enjoy . . .
Top Five Web sites
These are my favorite links:
Ticketmaster.com
is definitely a fav. This
extremely user-friendly
site allows users to browse through music,
arts, sports, and family events in an organized fashion.
Although the site displays a lot of information, it is not so
busy that the viewer is overwhelmed or frustrated with lack of
organization and obnoxious graphics.
There is a link for each event which offers a ticket purchasing
option as well as one that offers a description of the event and its
location.
This site also boasts user-friendliness.
Bluemountain.com enables you to send a virtual email
instantly. The viewer
is directed to an extensive list of subcategories, each containing
another extensive list of card choices.
You can personalize your card of choice by posting a message
directly on the card, if you so desire.
Bluemountain.com is great for birthdays, holidays, other
special occasions, or simply a dose of daily humor.
Allwall.com is a recent find for me, but it has
already become a favorite. This site allows you to browse through
its over 60,000 selections of posters, fine art prints, and photos.
The prices are significantly lower than normal store prices and users can
order directly online. For the casually browsing customer
allwall.com displays a list of top 100 "pics" so that he or she
can become familiar with the site. Finally, there is an "advanced
search" option for those users who are looking for something
specific. This site is also a quick and easy way to pick out holiday and
birthday gifts.
Do not be mislead--I won't pretend to surf when I
really don't, but that's not entirely why the SNC Surf site is one of my
favorites. This web site displays excellent pics and video clips (real
player) of Wrightsville beach's surf and the impressive surfer dudes
and dudetts in action. Throughout the day and night the SNC Surf
video cameras show footage of Wrightsville's surf and the time of day it
was gathered. Professional photographers have also displayed their
photos of surfing contests and and other related events. The
convenience of this web site allows me to virtually keep in touch with
Wrighstville beach. The picture quality is also outstanding so I
would recommend a peek to all who are interested.
Askjeeves.com is not as glamorous as my other
sites, but it is extremely useful; and therefore has made my top five favs
list. Users go to askjeeves.com and, as the name suggests, ask a
question (to "Jeeves)--any question. The site then offers
several web sites to refer to that will provide further information about
the user's question. Askjeeves.com is the most ingenious site I have
encountered on the web. Askjeeves.com saves users from submitting
URL after URL searching for the your desired information. This web
site does the time-consuming dirty work for you, and any type of question
is welcomed.
