Introduction

Sherlock Holmes.  By just saying the name out loud the image of the Master Detective is brought to mind.  When Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the first Sherlock Holmes story in 1885, he had no idea that the character would become as famous and well known as he has.  The stories are just as exciting to read now, as they were when they were written over one hundred years ago.

Today, the Sherlock Holmes admirer is likely to have first heard about the detective through movies and television.  The purpose of this pathfinder is to show the user the stories that started the legend, as well as to show other places where one can go to get a deeper understanding of Holmes.
