SOCIAL NETWORK AND POLICIES

The social network is unique to each person in the community. It is what they make of it. However, some basic standards hold true for everyone. The community is made of mostly loose ties with strong ties in real life. When signed on, a user can see how many other users and guests are logged in. If there is a user on who you would like to talk to, you can use intramesaging to send a personal message. When logged in you know if you're alone or not, and you're rarely alone, which helps increase the sense of community and increase the social network
.

The policies on all of Andre's pages are pretty much the following:

- anonymous (non-registered) users can only read the content

- registered users are allowed to add content (guestbooks, forums, galleries, etc.)

- administrators (friends) have the same power as an administrator (that is they can do everything) except for managing other administrators

These policies allow for easy access by users, but also weeds out unwanted users and any unwanted content.

Destiny.se uses a portal system called mambo and eurotrip.se is a "pure" blog using the wordpress software which is much simpler. The difference between them is that mambo is a huge content management system where you can add-in just about everything you want to your page via different building blocks. For example, a blog itself would be one block, as would a guestbook, forum, image gallery, etc. The system has built in functions for handling users, groups and their permissions to write and publish things.
