One of my Herrera projects entailed design of several daylighted stream channels and riparian wetlands adjacent to the Cedar River near Seattle, Washington. The aquatic habitat restoration was mitigation for a new bridge and was intended to reconnect the stream tributaries with the river and provide off-channel refugia for migrating fish. Construction at the site is mostly finished.

Water has not yet been diverted from the existing pipe beneath the road to the new daylighted stream channel in order to give time for streamside vegetation to become established.
