For one of my Herrera projects I designed and oversaw installation of a engineered log jam along the Big Quilcene River on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. The purpose of the log jam was to help restore salmon habitat by re-establishing pools and associated cover near the jam, and by diverting some flow from the river to re-engage an abandoned side channel.
