Teaching
Experience and Training
At UNC, I have served as a teaching assistant for Introduction to
Economics and have taught five independent sections of Applied
Microeconomics (Econ 310), the intermediate
microeconomics course for non-majors. The course website for Econ
310
providing a course syllabus, homework assignments and exams can be
viewed here. As an senior
undergraduate student at Miami
University, I
also served as a supplementary instructor for a Principles of
Microeconomics course.
I completed the
Teacher Training Program at UNC during the 2005-2006 school year. This
program is a two-semester graduate course led by faculty members in the
Economics department. Its purpose is to train Econ graduate
students in teaching methods in order to help us be more effective
teaching
assistants and instructors. Specific topics of the course include
course planning, lecture preparation, active learning and exam
writing.
We are also video-taped during an actual class session and provided
with constructive feedback regarding our teaching performance.
A detailed
teaching summary can be downloaded here. My statement of
teaching
philosophy is available here.
A summary of student course
evaluations with student comments can be downloaded here. Official
summaries of course evaluations can be downloaded here.
