Sushi Party
For Marianne's Birthday,
a bunch of people came over and we made sushi.
Below is the best account of the events of the evening that I can assemble.
I'm still recovering.
Jesse pretending to
eat a big hunk of wasabi while Marianne, the birthday girl, jokes along.
I'm very happy that Jesse came as he knew how to make sushi and brought along
a bunch of
key ingredients, as well as his rice cooker and beautiful hand made sushi plates.

Charles chopping cucumbers and carrots into perfectly symmetric slivers, as pedantically instructed by Jean.

Owen, returning with
Jackie from the store, after a wine run.
It was clear early in the evening that we were going to need more than the hostess
had planned for.

Owen fanning the rice, while silently wondering if he should cut Jackie off.

The many faces of
Abe.
Look at Jesse. He's a sushi master.

Betsy fanning the
rice.
There was a lot of rice fanning. We all took turns. Not.

Jesse, with his chandelier
hat on, showing off the finely prepared ingredients.
Look at how many chopsticks we had. If you need any chopsticks, just let me
know 'cause I have a lot of them.

Jesse PM's the rolling of the sushi by Marianne and Abe.

Charles and Jesse roll some more.

Marianne, pleased
with the offering.
It is a delight to behold.

Jesse, Chris, Meghan and Jackie dig in.

Abe uncovers his magical ginger rice pudding, while the crowd awaits in the background.

Chris, Owen, Meghan,
Jackie, Betsy, Jason and Charles line up for rice pudding,
while snacking on the amazing mango, banana, kiwi and strawberry sashimi
with coconut rice that Jesse made. Did I mention that he is a sushi master?

Post-rice pudding
hi-jinx by Abe and Jackie.
Don't ask.

Post-hi-jinx embarassment by Jackie.

Overall it was a very fun evening.
