The story:
We met during
the 99-00 school year at UNC-CH, as we both lived on the same floor of
Ehringhaus dorm. We immediately became good friends and went swimming
together every other day while it was warm enough. Although we had
other interests at the beginning of the year, by December we knew we wanted
to be together. And so we have been! December 8th, 2000, we
were to meet a group of friends at a restaurant and were running early.
We stopped at the bench underneath the Davie Poplar (the founding tree of
the univeristy) and talked. Just as we were about to leave for the
restaurant, Brad got down on one knee and proposed. I (Veronica) was
so excited that I forgot to say "yes"! After a reminder, I said "of
course," and we went to the restaurant to tell all our friends!
After
a year and a half of planning (which I am so glad we had!), we finally
got married on May 26, 2002. The ceremony was outside at the Horace Williams
House here in Chapel Hill. We had pictures taken before the ceremony
(another very smart idea!), and we arrived at the house at 5:00 for a 5:30
wedding. We had a big detailed schedule,
and it worked pretty well. The only hitch was that when we arrived
at the hairdresser's salon, we were supposed to have one person cut and style
my sister's hair, and another style Valerie and my hair. However, the
lady who was supposed to do Vanessa's hair decided she just didn't feel like
doing hair that morning... So, to make a long story short, one person
did all three hair styles plus a cut, and we started off about 45 minutes
late after that. However, the rest of the day went exactally as planned.
I
compiled a list of things to do in
and around Chapel Hill, and it's still a good resource. I hope you
enjoy! Below is a short picture summary of our wedding. If you
have more digital pics of the wedding, send them my way and I will post
them!
