It's
been about a month and a half that we've been here, if you can believe
it. I'd say that we're just about used to it now, although every
day presents new challenges and novel circumstances. I'll try to
sum up our first few weeks here as briefly as I can... |

We’ve
traveled a bit more – went to the old stomping grounds of El Cid, the 11th-century
warrior who helped drive out the Moors (Arab invaders who occupied much
of Spain for 700 years). I’m referring to the city and region of
Burgos, about an hour north of Madrid... |
Christmas
Letter
12/10/99

We’ve
been in Pamplona just about 3 months now, which is really hard to believe.
The culture shock has a way of lingering longer than you think it will,
but we’ve begun to feel more at home. There’s really too much to
tell in a brief message, so maybe the best thing to do is tell the story
of our daily lives, as seen by San Fermín, patron saint of Pamplona,
who watches over us and knows our every move... |

Letter - 12/25/99

You
will remember in our last exciting episode, I was deep in the midst of
the most important archeological discovery in history: copying a Spanish
translation of stuff a dead guy wrote in Latin 500 years ago about things
his friend had read about Greek myths... |

Letter - 1/30/00

It
began the night of December 27, 1999, which was the eve of Jisook’s 30th
birthday. We had planned and planned and were sure that our plan
was the ideal one for taking advantage of the train tickets we’d bought
and the time we had to travel... |
