The Great Depression was a trying time in America. With money tight, families often found themselves having to start all over. My paper on the famous novel The Grapes of Wrath offers a look at the tumultuous times of a faily struggling to find agricultural prosperity. The life of the Tom Joad and his family are like those of so many others trying to experience the American Dream.

The scales of justice are often weighed down by factors other than the simple facts of the case. This example comes from Charlotte's Independence High School as they were shocked by a scandal that arguably was rooted in many different problems.
