The meeting took place on three working days over the weekend of Oct. 2 -5, 1997. The agenda and the main items of business conducted were as follows:
Thursday Oct. 2.
Evening - social introductions
Friday Oct 3.
8.00 - 9.00 Overview of project and finalization of agenda.
9.00 - 10.15 Plenary session on the observation and format standards including demonstrations of CLIMDES Data base and ClimDB prototype.
10.15- 10.30 Break
10.30-12.30 Group working sessions
Group 1 - Observation Standards (Greenland, Viereck, Baker, Hastings)
Group 2 - Data Format (Henshaw, Goodin, Benson, Blodgett, Stubbs)
Group 3 - Users Needs (Bledsoe, Lauenroth, Swift, Moore)
Each group has one or more climatologist, data manager, and user/modeler. Groups 2 and 3 merged immediately since it appeared more effective to get results that way.
12.30 Lunch
1:30 - 3.00 - Continue meeting in groups.
3.00 - 5.00 - Plenary session for group progress reports.
Saturday
9.00 - 5.00 - Further group work. Each morning and afternoon session on both Saturday and Sunday began and ended with a plenary session. These were very useful in updating the state of progress and keeping the meeting focussed.
Sunday
7.00 -10.00 - Working breakfast.
Much writing was completed by the time the meeting adjourned. Further writing and review processes were undertaken in the weeks following the meeting.
