  • This was an article written for the North Wilkesboro Journal-Patriot supporting the new "Sight For Students" program funded by Communities in Schools of North Carolina.

  • This article was written for the Baptist Student Union's Grapevine Newsletter.  In it I cover a speech given by the chairman of UNC Chapel Hill Sociology Department, Christian Smith. 
The Lanes of Life:
  • This is a feature article written about the Durham City Bowling League for Mick Mixon.  I covered the league for a semester and wrote columns and editorials on individual teams and their activities.
Earl Shaffer: The First Solo Thru-Hiker of the Legendary Appalachian Trail
  • This is a research paper on the primary newspaper coverage of Earl Shaffer's 1948 Appalachian Trail hike.  It explores what the Boston Globe and New York Times wrote about Shaffer's trip in 1948 and then what contemporary sources say in 2001.
Picking up the Spare: Bringing Diversity to Bowling
  • This is an editorial column on my time as a reporter on the Durham City Bowling League.  It looks at the changing nature of the sport of bowling and the strides its participants have taken to avail themselves of the stereotypes that surround it.
Conservative Religion and Conservative Politics: Examining How Conservative Faith Impacts and Influences Political Ideology.
  • This is an extensive research paper studying the effects of one's particular faith influences and determines their political leanings.
