Command Center, Turtle Shapes, and Drawing Tools

The three buttons near the bottom left corner of the screen have the following functions:

The top button opens the Command Center. The blinking cursor that appears tells you that you can type LOGO commands for turtles and text boxes.

The middle button causes the following to appear, which shows the different possible shapes of the turtle: ( Note: All four lines do not appear simultaneously.)

The spaces with the single dots are locations where you can design your own turtle shape. To do this, double-click on one of the spaces, and the following editing object appears on the screen:

Select the color you want from the drawing tools (see below), and then click on a spot to change its color. Clicking again on the same spot will change the color back to what it was. The small square in the upper right corner shows the actual size of the "turtle." On this screen, you cou can name the turtle, and you can adjust the width and height and rotate and change the direction the turtle faces by clicking on the appropriate button.

The last button in the Command Center shows the drawing tools and colors that can be used. The following shows what appears when you click on the Drawing Tools button:

The drawing tools are the ten tools on the left side of the bar. On the top row, in order, are the free-hand writing tool, the straight line tool, the rectangle tool, the filled rectangle tool, and the eraser. The bottom five are the fill tool, the spray paint tool, the ellipse tool, the filled ellipse tool, and the selection tool.

Note: To get the straight line tool to draw either a horizontal or a vertical line, or to get the rectangle tools to draw a square, or to get the ellipse tools to draw a circle, hold the shift key as you use the tool.

The button with the face on it is the correction button. If you take some action you decide you do not like, before you do anything else, click on the face. This removes your most recent action.

The bar above the face tells you how many colors were used in developing the project.

The right side of the bar is where you select the color you want to use. The slide bar on the right side makes the colors lighter or darker.
