![]() so oxford yes. this is eric, he's standing on the balcony at the top of the tower of st. someone's (mary?) church, and so am i. they like spires in oxford, in case you can't tell. that's all souls college we're looking at, apparently the college of colleges in oxford, and sarah tells us that those ivory towers (not real ivory, but the color) are apparently the ivory towers that the expression referring to academia comes from. |
![]() this is ivy on the side of a boy's school that was founded in 1480. i think they must've planted this ivy that same year. hidden behind the gate and some bushes on the right side are a bunch of little boys getting ready to play cricket. cricket amuses me. it can go on for days, and they build big nice cricket lodges (lodges? sounds right, but anyway, some sort of fieldhouse basically) so that players can take breaks for tea. ah, british sports. |
![]() transportation of choice in oxford. this picture doesn't really capture just how many bikes there are here. it looks really cool all over town, hundreds of bikes stacked 3 rows deep against sides of 500-year-old buildings. |
![]() sarah and eric walking across the grounds of what's supposed to be the ugliest college in oxford. oh yes, it's absolutely hideous, isn't it? indeed. appalling. i think someone needs their standards adjusted. maybe people in oxford should come look at state. |
