Dec 26:

1.      The last glance of Chapel Hill in the morning

2.      Leave off about 1 pm to Atlanta

3.      After about 5 hours driving, one might pass Chattahoochee River National Recreational Area for sightseeing or boating (if the weather is allowable)

4.      Arrive Atlanta and Stay for our first night in Georgia (About 9’o clock)

 

Dec 27:

1.      Atlanta Area sightseeing in the morning. Two locations are easy to go: (1) Martin Luther King Jr. Birthplace (2) Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield. The former one is the memorial site for the leader of movement of Black Men. The latter is more natural to see battlefields in civil war. Both may take about 30 minutes driving from our hotel.

2.      One can take I-85 then I-65 to New Orleans (This road can pass Tuskegee Institute and Tuskegee Airmen for African American education and pilot training in World War II). (469 mi (about 9 hours 40 mins))

3.      If it is already late, I-20 then I-59 to New Orleans. (About 9 hours)

4.      Stay in New Orleans

 

Dec 28:

1. Sightseeing and Eating in New Orleans (French Quarter) (http://www.nps.gov/jazz/index.htm)

2. Driving to Houston and stay there for one night (About 7 hours driving)

 

Dec 29:

1.      Visit Johnson Space Center (About 4 hours tour – Level Nine Tour to see where the astronaut hang out) (http://www.spacecenter.org/)

2.      Drive to San Antonio and doing the city sightseeing at night (About 3 hours Driving). If possible, one can check out the NBA game for San Antonio Spears for tonight.

3.      Stay in San Antonio

 

Dec 30:

1.      Go to San Antonio Missions for the morning

2.      Drive to Carlsbad, NM for one night. (About 8 hours)

 

Dec 31:

1.      Go to Carlsbad Caverns for a day

2.      Stay in Alamogordo, NM for the New Year Eve. (About 4 hours driving)

 

Jan 1:

1.      Go to White Sands and White Sand Missile range in the morning.

2.      Leave for Tucson. (About 6 hours driving)

3.      Stay in Tucson

 

Jan 2:

1.      Visit Saguaro National Park to see cactus.

3.      Leave for San Diego (About 7 hours driving)

4.      Arrive San Diego.
