Al Jazeera -- a Qatar-based international broadcaster -- is trying to compete with CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News for American news viewers. The company's new "Al Jazeera America" has debuted on cable and satellite systems across the U.S. and promises more serious, in depth news coverage -- both of world issues and U.S.-based stories. But while the network has hired hundreds of American journalists, including some well-known faces from CNN, CBS, and other networks, it faces an uphill climb for viewers and credibility.
