Digital Painting

I  had the unique opportunity to work with some crazy computer scientists (Bill Baxter and Vince Scheib) in 2001/2002 who created a program that simulates wet painting on the computer. Using an actual brush-like object (3-D stylus) that corresponds to the brush on the screen, you can feel the response of the brush on the canvas from the force feed-back. 

Some of the advantages to the system are:

• If you make a mistake- just hit the undo button!!
  
• You can mix colors on the pallet.
• The brush  picks up and transfers paint as in normal wet painting.  
• You can adjust the dry time to faster or slower (no more waiting around for your paint to dry!!).
• The paint builds up to give it a textured effect.
• You can take your painting in as many different directions as you like without having to re-paint the same underpainting.
  
• You can always go back to an earlier saved version.
  

Yes, it's as wild as it sounds.
