Overland 122:
My good friend,
Bryan O'Neill put together a team (Team Poop II: The Runs) of 12 people
for the Overland 122 race
on May 15-16, 2004. It starts in the desert in Borrego Springs and ends
on the pier in Oceanside. It's going to be a blast, but it's for a good
cause as well: 100% of the proceeds go to Athletes Helping Athletes (the
AHA provides handcycles for disabled children, helping them participate
in sports and follow their dreams).
SKIING
"Ski It If You Can" This
mountain has by far
the best slopes in the
east- for those extreme skiers looking for a wild time. The best
part about it is that it's owned by the skiers themselves, so it's not
outrageously priced or over commercialized.
Alta is known as the Mad River
Glen of the West (or is it MRG is known as the Alta of the East...)
Either way, this mountain ROCKs my socks! We took a family vacation out
to Utah in Jan 2004 and had a blast. The third day in we got 15 inches
of fresh powder! The terrain is open and steep! plenty of bowls to play
in and chutes to tumble down. We're definitely going back! My
good friends, Dave and Monette Williams, are really into Triathlons so,
I decided that I wanted to see what the hype is all about. So far
I've done two - they were awesome and I lived to tell about it!
Camping and Hiking in North Carolina:
With
the Smokey Mountains, views on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and even woods
around
the Triangle area- It's a beautiful state to be outdoors...
Rafting:
Two
years in a row we've headed to the New River in West Virginia with the
New
River Scenic Whitewater Tours to
take
on the Gaully. To say it was awesome would be an understatement.
