In conjunction with the University of South Carolina, Clemson, and
Georgia Tech, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (under supervision
of Dr. Harvey Seim) recently deployed one in a set of four moorings to observe
the directional wave field. The instruments were placed across the shelf in
South Carolina, not far from Myrtle Beach. Each mooring had an acoustic
current profiler with a pressure sensor, to produce time series velocity and
wave data throughout the depth array. Two of the moorings also included a
conductivity, temperature and pressure sensor (Sea-Bird MicroCat).
In the process of retrieving the instruments, we tried to document the
experience with a digital camera.
