Map from The Central and Eastern European Initiative
ScopeThis website was created in order to provide a central location for finding links to libraries in Eastern Europe. The focus is on seven countries, the Czech Republic, Poland, Belarus, the Ukraine, Hungary, Romania and Lithuania. Obviously there are other countries that could have been included but due to time constrictions, these seven were randomly chosen. For information on other countries, please see the "General Listings" page. This site is intended for librarians or students of library science who are interested in visiting, contacting, or simply learning about libraries in Eastern Europe. This site is also aimed at any person who is interested in doing research or visiting libraries in any of these countries. Only sites that are at least partially available in English have been included. Almost all of the links will lead directly to the English language version of the webpages listed. For a few of the pages, it will be necessary to click on the English link after connecting to the page. The "General Listings" page provides links to other webpages, which also contain links and information on library websites in other countries. The difference between those websites chosen and this one is that the others do not single out the sites that are in English, nor do any of them include as much description as is provided here. When viewing the links provided throughout these pages, please be aware that some of the linked websites can be quite slow to load and successful loading can be inconsistent. |
