Analyzing School Categorical Variables

Statistical Topic:
Because categorical variables are not numerical or continuous, we have to use another typesof sampling distribution besids the normal distribution.  For this reason, these tests are called non-parametric tests.
Student Issue:
Good school climate or sense of school community gives a student an environment that should promote academic ability and provide a sense of personal satistifaction.  Poor school community allows students to drop out of school and continue life without much needed skills and information that would enhance most careers.
Data Set:
Categorical variables were generated from the survey instrument measuring school community used in the previous exercise of data analysis..
Goal of Data Analysis Lab:
The goal of this lab is to learn how to do two chi-square inferential tests that measure 1) differences in responses and 2) relationships between two categorical variables.
Statistical Techniques:
  1. For your survey question, complete the five steps of hypothesis testing which determines if the responses for each of your assigned survey question are different.
  2. For any of your survey questions that are significant (or pick two if none are significant), complete the five steps of hypothesis testing which determine if a relationship exists between of any two survey questions.
Social Commentary:
  1. Who is responsible for building good school community in your school?
  2. How can you as a student help?
