Dan Weiss

Biographical Information

Dan Weiss has completed his first year towards his Ph.D. His research interests include remote sensing, GIS, mountain geography, geomorphology, biogeography, and population-environment interactions. He works with Dr. Steve Walsh as a research assistant in the Nang Rong district of Thailand and in Glacier National Park, Montana. For the Thailand project, Dan has been involved in several image-processing projects. Currently he is working with air photo sets to reconstruct historic road networks that may contribute to the longitudinal study of land use and land cover change in the area. In GNP, Dan studies vegetation dynamics of avalanche paths, characterization of alpine tree line, and analysis of solifluction pattern and process.
