The requirements for each assignment are listed below:

bulletbullet Book review. Choose a book related to information security and read at least 150 pages. Alternatively, read a series of journal articles or Web pages totaling 150 pages or more. Write a review, analysis and critique of what you read. (Include full bibliographic citation data).
bulletbullet Software evaluation. Select and evaluate software related to information security. You may choose any software package or product. Develop performance criteria for the software. Configure and run the software, and write an evaluation of its performance, utility and limitations.
bulletbullet Media criticism. Identify a contemporary article in a professionally produced newspaper or magazine related to information security (online versions are OK). Write an analysis assessing the accuracy, hyperbole and extent of verification in the article.
bulletbullet Policy analysis. Read an existing official policy related to information security. Examples include privacy statements for ecommerce sites, bills or laws, University policy, etc. Analyze the policy's effectiveness, shortcomings, purpose and stakeholders. Make suggestions for changes.
bulletbullet Future forecast: Identify a technology, social, technical or similar topic related to information security. Provide background and the current state-of-the-art for the topic. Then, evaluate what you consider to be a likely future scenario for this topic. Base your predictions, at least partially, on appropriate literature.
