Week 14 Reading Notes
- 1. How the material helped
- I'm happy that the first reading was very clear about the differences between HTML and XML. It was something I didn't understand completely during class. My husband was looking over my shoulder as I read and I was happy to be able to explain it to him.
I really enjoyed the second readings. The web authors did an excellent job explaining all the steps precisely and the pictures were great. The part about the dangers of electrostatic was interesting. A friend of mine always warned me against dusting my television or computer while these appliances were on, and I never believed him. Now I know there was some truth to his admonishments. This site has so many interesting things I would never have thought of. Thermal paste, for example. It's fascinating how computer components are generally quite durable, and yet so fragile and subject to the whims of the environment.
- 2. What I didn't understand
- I don't understand how XML documents can store data. Or XML News.
What is overclocking? The second readings aren't very clear on what 'clocking' is.
- 3. Additional questions
-
- What exactly does 'markup language' mean?
- What does this mean: "XML is a cross-platform"?
