Below are links to a few of my writing samples. As I said on my home page, I'm a public relations major and a creative writing minor. Eleven million gallons of oil escaped into an Alaskan ecosystem that was considered pristine before the accident. This is an examination and analysis of the public relations tactics used by Exxon in the aftermath of the environmental disaster. Creative Writing -
Short FictionDead in a Field This short story is based on true events. Ralph Shank, the father of one of my best friends, Walker Shank, told me the original tale while on a fishing trip. This story is about a country boy, his pickup truck and a battle with a flock of spiteful buzzards. The Story of a Failure This short story is about an aspiring novelist with an inflated opinion of his writing ability. Despite constant rejection from publishing companies, his dogged determination wins out in the end... sort of. That What was Me I can't tell you exactly what this story is about, because the narrator's identity is a bit of a mystery until the end. If I was a professional author, this story would be a "social commentary" about the inner city. But since I'm not, it's just a short story.
