The
Book of John
I greatly enjoy writing things. When I'm having fun doing the writing,
the reader can tell. So here are a few selections.
The first is something which I wrote and let a
friend of mine (who is a columnist for The Daily Tarheel-- our campus newspaper)
use on a day when he needed some material. I had no idea my ex-roommate
was in on it until the next morning when I picked up the paper. I must
say that the whole matter was very amusing, and I think my ex cast me in
a very favorable light.
Next up is a little something which was an assignment
for one of my classes, and which I just started having a bit of fun with.
Maybe it seems a bit harsh, but I think there a way to put a "cap" on the
amount of poaching in Africa. It serves both as a deterrent and ultimate
solution. Yes, I accept the fact that this isn't a very people friendly
approach. See what you think.
I am taking a course on the evolution of Human-kind, and we have studied
the war-like nature of chimps. This just kinda
grew out of that.
This is what happened several years ago
when I sat down in front of my computer, got bored, and started thinking
about all those big philosophical thoughts.
Somebody once thought it would be a fun joke to throw a chain of lit fire-crackers
into my Uncle's frat house while everybody was asleep. Well, one of the
guys had just come back from a tour in Vietnam. Before the second fire-cracker
went off, he was under the bed screaming "Incoming". The joke wasn't funny
anymore. I was thinking of occasion when I wrote this.
I was thinking one day of how important it is to be an organ donor, and
so I jotted down a few aggressive thoughts
on the subject.
Here, I applied the first lines of
the opening scene of "Apocalypse Now" to a college setting. I have included
the original for comparison's sake. Scary the way situations mesh, isn't
it?
I like Anthropology. And I like to have fun with my classes. That begat
this.
My high school chemistry teacher gave us the option of completing an extra
credit project. We had to write 500 words on how plastics improve our lives.
I got working, I got creative, I got crazy.
Don't ask me where this came from.
Think of this in the context of "2001:
A Space Odessy". Monkeys throwing bones around, space ships flying around,
manifest destiny of man... did I mention I have a certain interest for
Anthropology?
And this just popped into my head one day in
class. I wonder and worry why....
