Bosworth, Patricia. Diane
Arbus: A Biography. New York: Knopf, 1984.
[Art TR140.A73
B67 1984]
This biography, is sensationalist and chock-full of conjecture. The author, Patricia Bosworth (a former model for Diane and her husband, Allan) was able to gain the cooperation of precious few close friends and family members. It is, however, an adequate source for information for the chronology and context of Arbus's work. The Arbus scholar should take the information about her personal relationships with a grain of salt. It provides the reader with insight into the people and places, and paints a vivid picture of mid-century New York-of both the art world, and the underworld into which Arbus delved.
