This is the first major exhibition of her work since 1971. Arbus' family and friends collaborated on the exhibition and the accompanying catalog. The exhibition is travelling nationally, ending up at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in January of 2005.

This exhibition contains photographs taken from 300 previously unknown prints, of the Matthei family in 1969. Using the matthei cache and holdings of Mt. Holyoke and the Spencer art museum, the exhibition examines Arbus' vision of the American family.
