Hey there -- welcome to my home page! I'm currently a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, double-majoring in public relations at the School of Journalism & Mass Communication and public policy analysis. This web page was created specifically for the JOMC 50 class. Although Chapel Hill has been my home for the past three years, I was born in Taipei, Taiwan and moved to Austin, Texas when I was less than a year old. I've lived in Austin since then, so I definitely consider myself a Texan. Here are a few particulars you might be interested to know about me: I've played the piano since I was five years old. Almost every summer, I attended the Austin Chamber Music Summer Workshop and had the opportunity to practice and perform with various string and wind ensembles. Although I don't play much anymore, I still love to go home and plink around the piano keys, just to keep the music at my fingertips. Through the UNC Washington Policy Semester program, I had the incredible opportunity to work and live in Washington, DC last fall. I interned in the public affairs department of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, a labor union for public service employees. From eating at different ethnic food restaurants and kayaking on the Potomac River to visiting free museums and meeting Congressional representatives on the Hill, I had a fabulous experience living in DC and fell in love with the city! Count on me returning to DC after graduation! At the beginning of my sophomore year, I joined The Daily Tar Heel and continue to serve as a staff writer for the City Desk. Even though I'm a public relations major, I love being in the newsroom and writing stories about issues that affect the town of Chapel Hill and the surrounding community. It's a fun way for me to merge my interests in public policy and newswriting! Random stuff I love: Georgia O'Keefe (as you can see from the art on this web page), Tex-Mex food, Amy's Ice Cream (an Austin dessert institution), Ben Harper, Third Day, movies (favorite - "Life is Beautiful"), The West Wing, fruit (I'm a health nut), comfy t-shirts, homemade gifts, cooking, shopping To find out more about me, just click around this web page. Thanks for visiting -- enjoy! Questions/Comments?
