Comm 130
Advanced Audio Production

This course is an exploration of the art of audio production. It is an opportunity to explore some of the possibilities of audio as a stand alone medium and audio in conjunction with other media. It is my hope that your thinking about audio will reach way beyond the ordinary within the first few days.

This is a creative, production-oriented course in which you are encouraged to stretch the limits of your imagination and pursue your interests as far as time and facilities allow.

Enrollment priority given to those who take Comm 141 in same term.

Comm 141
Audio Aesthetics, Theory and Criticism

This course recognizes the co-equality of the production of media artifacts and the understanding of the theory and conventions of criticism surrounding those artifacts.

The main objective of this course is to develop an appreciation of the many ways that artists, philosophers, theoreticians and social activists have conceived of and  used sound as a unique and powerful artistic medium.

The second objective is to explore sound as it drives and is driven by production in other media, especially television and film.
