My dissertation will focus on mobile/ubiquitous computing/communication devices. More specifically, I will be looking at discourses of current 'cutting-edge' and future mobile information and communication technologies. I envision this paper as a chapter or part of a chapter of my dissertation; the utility being to illustrate some of the organic - long term discourses of technology that have persisted such as the progress myth, and the role of capitalism and industry in promoting utopic visions of technological futures.
