* biography *

I was busy pursuing a PhD in sociology at UNC when, by chance, I won a chance to make a free super 8 film at a local film festival called "Flicker". Shortly thereafter, I made 3 shorts with a Canon 518 I rescued from Ebay and discovered a love of the cheap but brilliant super 8 film stock. I headed Flicker from 2002 to 2004 but I’ve been teaching at UNC since 1999 and I won the Tanner Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2003.  I'm now ABD and my dissertation about gender and job satisfaction will be done really soon.  Really.
