Man...
Now it's Sunday. I've been kinda slack. Which is not to say I haven't been busy.
I am adjusting to getting real sleep at night. It's amazing how much that helps. The hard part is getting what you need to do done, even the bare minimum, by 9 or 10 pm so you can start getting ready to be asleep by 11 or 12 or so. I've noticed I lose a lot of productive time in transit from home to campus, especially from campus to home and back to campus in the evening . But hey, I gotta go back and let Stinky out whether it's academically productive or not.
Funniest thing this weekend has been the tiger attacking Roy. It sparked a humorous debate and outpouring of pedantic babble on Fark. Expected topics included the debate over "animals in shows, zoos, etc. is bad" or not. Unexpected topics included hermaphrodism, but that was a troll. An instigator, not a real troll.
Me, I tend to like animals more than people, but free food, health care and protection ain't that bad a gig. Of course, being inbred to preserve a chance coloration would probably suck ("white tigers" are not a species, or even a sub-species). How can I judge? There's a deformed, severely inbred canis lupis asleep on my couch right now. Either domestication is ok, or it's not. Pick a side if you must, but be consistent.
Update: No sooner do I post this than this comes up. An idiot in NYC keeping a tiger and a caiman in his apartment. Maybe I should add the caveat that domesticating animals is only ok if you're capable of doing it right (or dealing with the consequences) without innocent people or animals being in danger. I meant on the human scale, not the individual. At least Siegfried and Roy seem to know what they're doing and genuinely care for the animals, if in a screwy way.
And what is it with this "only in NY" disease? Yeah, only in NY. Or Las Vegas. Or India. Or Bangladesh. Or Jakarta. Or Vietnam or...
