Albany Herald: February 15, 2003 (The Zone -  Section C)

Mandy Flynn published a nice article featuring photographs from this web site.  The article stirred up a lot of interest.  Unfortunately, there were some errors that were noticed immediately by the individuals affected.  The known errors are listed below.  Please report any others that you notice.

    Thanks, Charles Johnson

CORRECTIONS/COMMENTS

1.  Charles S. Johnson, Jr. (CSJ) was in the AHS class of 1954 not 1955.

2.  CSJ was married four years after high school in 1958.

3.  CSJ was already into photography his freshman year and some of the scenes on this site date from 1950 or earlier.  The Shriner's parade was photographed in the summer of 1951.  The job at McCollum's probably dates from his sophomore year.

4.  CSJ has one sister, Virginia G. Johnson of Albany.

5.  Wilburn Nicholson was misidentified as Clark Douthit in the photograph of students in Pat Field's '53 class (CSJ's fault).  The other students are Annette Martin, Peggy Houston, and Janice Bass.

6.  In the track picture Liebe Briggs is right front and Walter Dees is in the background.

7.  All of CSJ's negatives and slides have been cataloged for a few years, and systematic scanning started in the late 90's.  The placement of AHS galleries online was prompted by Robert Gotsch's enthusiasm for the photographs and his comments about them on Beverly's web site (www.albanyhightimes.bszacharias.com).  Of course, the link provided by Beverly permitted many classmates to find the photographs.

8.  Unfortunately, both the URL for this site and CSJ's email address were reported incorrectly.

9.  In the picture of guys on the wall we do not have complete identification.  Please help.
