Blog Week 10
Though my experiment did not go as I had planned, I believe my failure to complete it as I had planned was a blessing in disguise. In my experimental proposal I planned to get to bed by one in morning over the six experimental days. While I did not make it to bed all six experimental nights, the two nights I did not make it in time helped me realize the importance of sleep. Positive, upbeat days generally followed a well rested night, while aggravation and a short temper best describe the days following sleep deficient nights. If I where able to do my experiment over I would not try and solve my sleep loss problems right away, but would use the experiment to investigate the differences in my sleep deficient nights and well-rested nights. I would get to bed by one on three of the experimental nights, wake up at 10, and evaluate my overall mood, at the conclusion of each day. The other three experimental nights I would go to bed at 4 in the morning, wake up at 10, and at the end of each day also evaluate my mood, and temperament. I believe comparing well-rested days, with sleep deficient days would make for a more influential experiment, as I would more easily realize the importance of a well rested night, and recognize mood swings, due to fatigue, stemming from sleep loss.
