Studying Abroad in Sevilla (Still under Construction...)

I had a really wonderful time studying abroad in Sevilla for six weeks this past summer.... Great group of people.

To see some of the (many) pictures I took, you can follow the following link... . Obviously, I don't have then up yet...

To take a tour of the place that I called home for a few shorts weeks, follow the following link...

2002 FIFA World CupThe 2002 World Cup took place while we were in Sevilla. As futbol is such a force in Europe, I got into the excitment and the fever surrounding Spain's seleccion, as well as the surprising success of the United States. It wasn't hard to get wrapped up in the game as everything...everything was focused on the World Cup. During lunch and dinner as my roommate Jessica and I ate, every program on television was following Spain's team and their fanatic supporters. When the US played, all of the people in the group would go to this bar nearby to our houses to watch our team play. It was amazing to see how people who would have never really followed the World Cup (myself included) got so into it because we had to support our home team, the underdog, against everyone else. Though the US surprised the soccer world with its success until the Quarterfinals round, there was also great excitement surrounding Spain's team. Watching the games at home with Jairo and Francisco (my senor) was always an interesting cultural experience. Let me tell you...the stereotypical lengthy scream of "gol" is so much more exciting when you can hear the entire apartment complex and street screaming along. I really thought Spain was going to have a go at taking the Championship. That would have been an amazing time in Sevilla, let me tell you. Being such an integral part of Spanish life, this had it all: exciting games, great plays, fanaticism, controversy, and some really hot guys!
